Cosmos' Lounge is headed to the Elk Country Visitor Center to see the elk! This day trip is open to teens grades 6–12 and includes everything you need to try to spot the elk.

What we'll be doing

The Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette is a premier elk viewing location and home to the largest wild elk herd in the Northeastern United States. . Teens will explore viewing trails and the Center's exhibits on elk, other wildlife, and the surrounding ecosystem, all from trails and viewing areas. Elk sightings aren't guaranteed since they're wild animals, but Benezette is one of the best places in the country to try.

Why we're going

Watching a wild elk across a field at dusk isn't something most teens ever get the chance to see. It's a reminder that there's a whole world outside of McKean County worth exploring, and that adventure doesn't have to mean going far it's an hour away. Trips like this give our teens a sense of wonder and a break from screens and routine, while building an appreciation for the wild spaces right in their own backyard. It's part of what Cosmos' Lounge is all about: giving teens new experiences that broaden their world and build confidence along the way.

Trip Details

Trip Date: October 24, 2026

Departure/Return: Leaves from Cosmos' Lounge at 5:00 PM, returns in the evening around 9:00 PM

Safety first

All Cosmos' Lounge staff and chaperones hold current PA child care clearances and CPR certification. Because we can't guarantee that every parent or guardian on a trip would have the same clearances, parents are not able to join this trip — this keeps things safe and consistent for every teen in the group.
