Our Story :  Creating Bradford's Third Space

A professional portrait of Ashly Colosimo Gross, owner of Cosmos' Lounge. She sits on a modern white chair with wooden legs against a solid black background. She is wearing a light lavender blazer over a white shirt, black pants, and white sneakers with blue accents. With a warm smile and a confident posture, she exudes approachability and leadership.

When I was a teen in Bradford, one feeling stood out above all others: there was nowhere to go.

Everything felt either too adult, too little-kid, or wrapped in rules that made it hard to simply exist. Like many teens in small, rural communities, boredom, restlessness, and disconnection were constant companions and the message was clear: grow up and get out.

Years later, after more than a decade working alongside young people as a coach, mentor, and program builder, it became clear that the story hadn’t changed.

Across conversations with teens, families, educators, and community members, the same themes kept surfacing:

  • “There’s nothing for teens to do.”

  • “There’s nowhere for them to go.”

  • “Teens are trouble.”

Cosmos’ Lounge was created in response to that reality — not as a program to fix teens, but as a community-built space that believes in them.

This Is Why

Why Cosmos' Exists

Cosmos’ Lounge was designed as a third space — a place between home and school where teens can safely gather, explore creativity, build relationships, and develop confidence without pressure or judgment.

From the beginning, Cosmos has been shaped by the voices of young people themselves. Teens are not just participants here — they are collaborators, leaders, and co-creators of the space and the experiences within it.

As Cosmos grows, our mission has expanded while remaining grounded in the same core belief:

Young people thrive when they are trusted, supported, and given space to belong.

Our Mission

To provide a third space designed for teens, by teens—offering a place that is truly theirs, where they are seen, heard, and valued; where they can exist without pressure, try new things, and take a break from expectations.

We do this by empowering teens, building confidence, and creating community by providing an inclusive, youth-driven third space where teens feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow.

Our  Vision

We believe:

  • Teens are powerful agents of change in their own lives and communities

  • Youth are experts in their own lived experiences

  • The best way to support young people is through belonging, compassion, stability, and trust

We envision a community where teens feel safe to be themselves, and they feel seen, heard, and valued.

Why It Matters

At its core, Cosmos’ Lounge exists because everyone needs somewhere to go and something to do — especially during the years when identity, confidence, and connection matter most.

Cosmos is not just a place.
It’s a commitment.
A belief.
A community that shows up for its young people.

That’s Cosmos’ Lounge.

A space to hang out, create, and connect — finally.
