Teen Board
Cosmos’ Lounge is guided by a Teen Leadership Board made up of students in grades 6–12. Board members play an active role in shaping programming, planning events, leading community service projects, and ensuring teen voices are centered in all decisions. This leadership opportunity builds confidence, collaboration skills, and real-world experience while empowering teens to help create the space they want to see in their community.

Lily Bouchard

Why did you join the Cosmos' Teen Board?
-"I joined because I LOVE it at Cosmos', everyone is super duper kind and sweet and cool and it's a good opportunity to get out in the community."
What do you hope other teens feel when they come to Cosmos'?
-"I hope when other people come to the Lounge they have an opportunity to connect with others, make new friends, and try something new."
What do you wish adults understood about teens?
- "I think a lot of adults think all teens and young adults are probably jerks and rude or something but that really isn't the case and through being on the board I have met tons of sweet people and I have had a positive experience with everyone that comes!"
What's your favorite thing at Cosmos'?
-"My favorite part of the lounge is the fact that everyone is seen and welcome and everyone has tons of stuff to do and have fun."

-"To make friends and learn leadership skills."
What do you hope other teens feel when they come to Cosmos'?
-"I hope they have fun and feel safe, and know that they are welcome."
What do you wish adults understood about teens?
- "That we need a safe space to be ourselves and relax."
What's your favorite thing at Cosmos'?
-"I like to do karaoke."

-"I joined because i want to help and Cosmos' Lounge is a great for us teens to be us."
What do you hope other teens feel when they come to Cosmos'?
-"I want other teens to feel like themselves and want them to feel safe and welcome."
What do you wish adults understood about teens?
- "I wish that more adults would that that some kids are more than just little kids that get in the way."
What's your favorite thing at Cosmos'?
-"My favorite thing to do is to hang out with my friends and do karaoke, Xbox, and Wii."

Why did you join the Cosmos' Teen Board?
-"Once I saw the people in it and all the good energy I decided that I wanted to be a part of it."
What do you hope other teens feel when they come to Cosmos'?
-"I hope teens feel welcomed and comfortable in the Lounge, because it should be an open space for all."
What do you wish adults understood about teens?
- "I wish all adults could understand that every teen is different in some way. Not everybody grows up the same and nobody has the same privileges."

-"THE PEOPLE"

Why did you join the Cosmos' Teen Board?
-"I joined when I was hired and am so glad I did."
What do you hope other teens feel when they come to Cosmos'?
-"I'm really hoping that kids feel safe to be themselves when they come to Cosmos', and not like a they have to be on edge or fake a personality that isn't their own. I just hope they feel safe enough to come here and just be."
What do you wish adults understood about teens?
- "I wish adults would understand that teens need to be heard, and their issues shouldn't be just brushed under the rug. I've spend so much time being frustrated that my issues felt small, because the adults around me never listened with actual intent to care."
What's your favorite thing at Cosmos'?
-"I love being able to come to Cosmos' and just hang out and be chill. I don't feel obligated to do anything special when I'm here, I feel like I can just exist and do whatever is going to make me happy."

-"I loved the idea of a place for teens to go and I wanted to be able to help."

-"I hope that teens feel safe, free, and comfortable in our space."

- "I wish that some adults understood how much independence impact your child for good and bad."

-"My favorite thing is the puzzles."

-"To learn responsibility."

-"I hope that teens feel happy and confident."

- "Listen to what we have to have to say and not always get upset with us when they don't even know what happened at school that day."

-"Ashly, snacks, and how comfortable I feel at Cosmos'."

-"I had been to Cosmos' so many times, I wanted to get more involved."

-"I think people should feel welcome and think it's relaxed and a safe place."

- "I wish adults would understand not everyone is the same and a lot of people are different in many ways."
What's your favorite thing at Cosmos'?
-"My favorite thing about Cosmos' is Ashly, she is really nice and if you need someone to talk to she's always there."
